FIVE REASONS FOR PRESERVING YOUR JEWELRY BOXES
First let's just take a quick look at the history of jewelry boxes. The first jewelry boxes were called "jewel caskets". . Although not very flattering as far as names go these boxes were made out of metal, then layered with gold, silver and even ivory. All of them were handmade and carefully decorated making them just as valuable as the treasures they held inside. Here are the five reasons to preserve your jewelry boxes.
1- The first reason is that when we see beautifully they tend to evoke in our minds an era of romance and sophistication. What with our busy schedules we women tend to put these things on the back burner. With all the things that a woman needs to take care of today such as: careers , home ,children and husbands etc... it is essential for women to be surrounded by things that help them to feel feminine and having lovely beautiful things such as jewelry boxes on their dressers can help do just that. Never throw out your jewelry boxes. Instead preserve and safeguard them in a cool dry place.
2- The next reason would be that because every little girl has looked into her mother's admired and then tried on all of the treasures inside. All little girls should today have at least one jewelry box of her own as did most all the young women of eras gone by. They should be taught now to preserve their little jewelry for the future.
3 The third reason would be that for centuries women from all walks of life have owned jewelry. It may not all have been the finest gold or silver jewelry but they treasured and loved them all. For this reason alone they needed something to keep them in. Some jewelry boxes may have been made out wood and carved very elaborately but many were plain and still considered beautiful since most of them had been given to them by their future husbands. They preserved them so well that on today's market some of them are very valuable. Today having a jewelry box given to you by your partner is still considered romantic and a thing to be preserved and cherished. Times have not changed so much that today's modern woman doesn't appreciate a lovely jewelry box.
4- Our fourth reason to preserve your small fashion jewelry boxes would be that: that having several of these boxes on our dresser or on display where you can look at them often and admire them does lift your spirits and makes you smile. You should not keep your rings in with your earrings or brooches and certainly not in a cup or a jar since they may get tangled or rub together thus getting damaged. If you own or they should not be kept with your gold jewelry. Have you ever seen silver and gold jewelry side by side in a jewelry store? Other than the fact that they keep them separate for better viewing they must also know that to have them rub together is not a good idea.
5- Our last and best reason to preserve your well crafted jewelry boxes is: as heirlooms they are undoubtedly the best and most cherished item any mother can leave her daughter. The memories associated with these boxes can never be forgotten. When a daughter gazes upon her mother's jewelry box and opens it every now and then she remembers her mom. For example the time mom wore a specific piece of jewelry that she kept inside this magical box and how it made her smile. It could be that old pair of earrings that she held on to for years because her best friend had given them to her. It could be those outdated broaches that meant everything to her because her children gave her one every year to celebrate mother's day. All these treasures inside meant something to her. The jewelry does not have to be the most expensive but the life stories it holds is priceless.
6- IN conclusion these five reasons for preserving your jewelry boxes should be your incentive to take a second look at your jewelry boxes and look after them.
